History

About Us / Our Value

We have been in continuous operation since Harold Mercer started the Harold Mercer Company 80+ years ago and are known today as Mercer RPM Inc, which is the merger of Mercer Midwest and RPM Industrial Sales - two well-known and respected manufacturer’s representative firms.

Harold Mercer originally started the Harold Mercer Company in 1935, and it became the first manufacturer’s representative for the Furnas Electric Company. Harold had four sons who all joined the business and established sales offices in Milwaukee, Appleton and Minneapolis. The company grew to a size of $12M in sales in 1995 before breaking out into separate companies due to the sale of Furnas Electric.

RPM Industrial Sales was formed in 1998 because of a need in the market for knowledgeable sales coverage as it relates to engineered motors and electro-mechanical products. The company originally covered two states and expanded since its inception to cover 8 states through hard work and keen market knowledge.

The joining of RPM Industrial Sales and Mercer Midwest to form Mercer RPM is unique in the industry, because we bring motors, enclosures, panel components, automation products, machine safety technologies, and circuit protection products together in one firm.
